Ive seen that in some forums where users are going ot with the discussion moderators or sometimes normal users are able to split a thread with button, basically indicating that hey i/they went ot and their/my discussion is here(link) why dont we have one of those?

This option is by default enabled for moderators in phpbb, maybe its just not used very much. I've never seen it available for users thou.
